Hi

1) After search for DEM free data for france in the prupose to test manifold 9 , i find many websites store ASTER GDEM (2009) that is a product of japan ( METI & ERDAS ) and usa (NASA & caltech )

but also 2 links perhaps usefull

http://copernicus.eu/ ( Earth Observation)

https://www.intelligence-airbusds.com/en/4871-browse-and-order ( SRTM30 WorldDEM)

2) howto use a a quality assessment (QA, .num) file in manifold ?

3) Does manifold ll replace ERDAS software !! ?

The USGS Earth Explorer site has SRTM data for France. See https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov

That is the site used to acquire data for the Merge Images example and for the "MERGED SRTM TERRAIN ELEVATION TILES" big screenshots in the Gallery page.

Maybe IGN has terrain elevation data for France as well?

We haven't talked about LiDAR data for quite awhile here. For those of us fortunate enough to have LiDAR point clouds, can you say if Manifold is considering the ability to create and export DEM files based on LiDAR? Or the ability to export the merged DEM files we have already created?

Yes to both. Creating rasters from vectors is coming very soon, with GPU parallelism being used.

The rasters created by Merge Images right now can be exported by using File - Export to a variety of formats.

Fantastic fantastic fantastic. This will change my near-future work/life enormously. Huge.

Thanks Dimitri!

@lionel (and others), there is no French data here yet, but if you are looking for DEM/DTM/DSM raster data and LiDAR data for testing, this is a great site--growing slowly.

NSF OpenTopography Facility

IGN France are not very generous with their top-level data yet. Low-resolution DEMs are available for free; anything really useful costs money.

thank's for the link , i was thinking with inspire that all kind of data ( and so gis ) ll be available for free see here

Strange ign use for rendering 3D in the web a the javascript library iTowns base on three.js and documentation explain it can use Elevation (DTM/DSM) from WMTS !!

Does manifold ll support Elevation (DTM/DSM) from WMTS since it can use a lot of remote service like osm , google ....?

Manifold 9 supports WMTS protocol, yes.

Any image can be treated as elevation (single or multiple channel). It is all just tiles, for which we can use any Tile* functions. What imagery "really" means is up to the user.

So yes.
